How To Write an eBook

You will soon find that the more words and time you put into writing content as a freelance writer, the more you are rewarded. But what if you wanted to get super efficient, or simply have a deadline that you are struggling to meet. Before you compromise on quality, check out these steps.

Break It Down

Start with your numerical goal. Not monetary figures, but words. If your topic starts with something serious like ‘ The Ultimate Guide…’ then you might need the freedom of 10, 000 words or maybe even a little more to get the job done. The best strategy is to at least work on a longer and complex eBook once every ten months, and publish smaller ones in the time in middle.

Break the book into 2000 words and so on. Most blog posts are usually in the range of 1000 and 2000 words. This is what typically is recommended for most bloggers, even though many times longer and short posts do the trick. Sometimes, writing an eBook can easily look like an impossible task. However, writing 10 blogs does not always fare bad with a lot of people. For example, if you need to jot down 17000 words in one eBook, break it into 10 chunks of chapters, or sections, or anything that goes with the format of your eBook.

You will most probably be breaking down into sections like Introduction, The Why, Top Tips, Figures, Case Study, etc.

When you are starting out, it helps to brainstorm a list first. Plus, this way you will also be able to assess that anything that can be explained in another section does not need to be separately repeated in another chapter. You never know you might just think of something that you missed out. Moreover, if you are organized, things get done faster too.

Write These Chunks

It is okay and works if you approach each chunk that you have chosen as a mini book. This way you will be able to properly give each an introduction, fill it with supporting points and a conclusion. You are not only making things easier for yourself but also for people who are skipping to sections straight from the Table of Contents.

A good idea would be to simply outline everything that goes further into each section and take cues from there so that there is nothing to stop you from simply writing away the eBook.

Read It Like A Reader Would

Read the final draft from the start to finish and then evaluate what you think of it. You may come across new ideas that you missed or think that something is really irrelevant in an eBook.

Check out the eBook converter on our site, all you have to do is input the document and we will do the rest.

How To Convert PDF To Word

PDF to WordOn the section of that holds all our document converters, you can find many tools to convert your text files into different formats. No matter whether you are using Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or another word processing program, on you can convert files to DOCX, ODT, RTF, PDF, and more.

There are many reasons for why you may want to convert your documents to one of the available formats. We have already talked about some of the conversions you may want to conduct:

However, today’s article and the attached video tutorial will tell you why you may want to convert PDF documents into a Microsoft Word file.

Online PDF To Word Converter

The PDF to Word conversion is a good way to extract text from a static and non-editable document for further usage. Text passages can be copied from PDF documents that were based upon text documents (contrary to scanned images), however, formatting is oftentimes lost, and longer PDFs can become a nuisance to copy page by page or even paragraph by paragraph.

Converting the whole file into an editable Word document is the more elegant, faster, and less unnerving solution. All you have to do is to choose the Word document converter you need. While computers with older versions of Windows and the according Windows Office suite, may still require to convert to the DOC format, newer versions often choose DOCX instead.

DOCXThe DOCX format succeeded the older Word format. Unlike DOC, DOCX files can be opened more easily in other programs than Microsoft Words, which makes spreading and sending them easier and more approachable. It also manifests the Microsoft Office Open XML standard.
More information about the difference between DOC and DOCX can be found in this article.

PDF to Word only for unprotected PDF files

PDFThis kind of conversion works well with unprotected PDF files. Oftentimes, PDF files are former Word or OpenOffice documents that were saved in the PDF format for better handling and formatting reasons. Such files can easily be converted “back” into the Word formats DOC or DOCX. If the PDF in question contains images, they are imported into the Word document as normal document images. It may be that the formatting needs a bit of adjustment after the conversion though, but the major formatting will remain the same as in the PDF.

Unfortunately, DRM protected PDF files can not be converted. The DRM protection method prevents the conversion process from taking place. If you are the owner of the protected PDF file, make sure to remove the protection before converting your PDF into Word.

However, depending on the complexity of your PDF, it can always happen that formatting errors or other minor problems occur during the conversion.

Different source formats for conversion to Word

Of course the conversion to Word is not limited to PDF files as the source file format only. PDF conversion to Word makes documents editable again, but it can also come in handy when someone sent you a file Microsoft can’t open without producing errors (either in formatting or displaying a list of nonsense symbols). The open standard format ODT as well as Word Perfect’s WPD files can be converted into DOC or DOCX with a few clicks.

When it comes to PDF to Word conversion, however, it’s advised to use the DOC file format instead of the newer, XML supporting DOCX.

Let us show you how easy it really is!

How Do You Convert PDF To Word

This short video tutorial shows you how to convert from PDF to Doc. Underneath, you will also find a quick how-to in written form. The best about it all? The PDF to Word converter is part of the free features of!

Go to and choose the DOC or DOCX converter from the list of document converters. These are the common Microsoft Office text document formats. Of course you can also convert it to the open standard format ODT, if you are using LibreOffice or OpenOffice instead.

PDF to Word

Click on “Choose File” if you have the PDf stored on your hard drive. As an alternative, you can enter the URL of a PDF that is saved on the internet, or upload a PDF document from your Dropbox.

Click on “Convert File”. The conversion process starts now. Depending on how big your file is, this may take a few seconds.

PDF to Word

The successfully converted Word document will be stored on your hard drive in the usual folder for downloaded items. However, you can also choose to upload the file to your Dropbox or Google Drive.

PDF to Word

If you open the DOCX file now alongside with the PDF, you will see that there is almost no difference between the two documents.

However, since DOC is a “discontinued” file format, it may happen that formatting errors occur in the text, or that the alignment of pictures can change. However, that’s the good thing about converting to DOC: you can easily make these minor adjustments in Word! Anyways, the most important thing is the correct transfer of the text content of the file.

How to create an iPhone Ringtone

iPhone Ringtones

Sure, those ringtones inherited by your iPhone or available on iTunes are nice, but don’t you want a more personal one? A part of your favorite song, or simply one that gets you up and going in the morning? To achieve that, you do not have to purchase a ringtone from the iTunes store! We can show you how it can be done very easily using the fitting cost-free resources and your iTunes library!

1. Grab the Song

First things first. Do you know which part of the song you want as your ringtone? You need to remember the exact part with the start and ending time to the second. Best, you write it down somewhere real quick.

Now, you can basically choose any free audio converter to trim the song, however, using this M4A converter can save you a later step already. Go to the converter and upload the song you want to trim. Under “Trim Audio” you can enter the start and ending time. After hitting “Convert File”, the song will be cut and the part you wanted will be converted to M4A. Using iTunes or the Apple Quick Time Player, you can now listen to the part of your song again, making sure it’s the one you want. The best thing about this: your original song will remain untouched, contrary to clipping and converting it using iTunes.

Once you have the desired part, you can move on to step 2.

2. Get the Ringtone File

Having an M4A file to begin with is nice, however it’s not the one suitable for iPhone ringtones. To get the appropriate file, you have to locate your downloaded and converted file first. Either, it will be stored in the folder specified in your browser’s download history, or you can select it from there directly and choose “Show in folder” or something similar after right-clicking on the file. You will be lead to the download destination right away.

To change the file, you will have to rename it. However, not the name of the file itself, but the name of the file extension. If you’re lucky, you can simply right-click on the image and choose “Properties” or “File Info”. There, you can rename the file extension as well as the name of the file. In case the file extension is not visible, you have to switch it on. There are different tutorials about that on the internet, depending on which version of Windows or iOS you have; for example this one for OS X Mountain Lion.

Once you are ready, all you have to do is change the file extension of your file to “M4R”. For example, your file had had the name “Rhianna-Umbrella.m4a” and now you renamed it to “Rhianna-Umbrella.m4r”. Once you tried to apply this change, your computer will send a warning and ask you, whether you really want to change the file extension. Confirm.

3. Add your Ringtone to iTunes and your iPhone

Once you renamed your file, you can drag and drop it into your iTunes library. It will show up under “Tones”.

To get the ringtone to your phone, you will have to sync your iPhone to your computer. In your iPhone menu on iTunes, you have to go to Tones and select “Sync Tones”. Hit “Sync” and “Apply” and wait. Once the sync is completed, you can use your new ringtone! Simply go to “Settings > Sounds > Ringtone” and choose it as your currently used one.

Extract Music from Video Files – Tutorial

From Video to Audio
Icons by

In one of our earliest posts, we have already talked about the possibility to extract music from video clips. By now, you know that the answer on how to get that movie score, song, or piece of background music from a video or movie scene is to convert your video into an audio format.

However, this time we want to provide a better and more extensive tutorial on how to get the sound track ripped from a video.

All you need is the video you want the sound track to be extracted from – either downloaded from vimeo, dailymotion, YouTube, or elsewhere; or recorded by yourself – and one of the audio converters from No download or installation of any software is needed.

1. Choose an Output Format

Depending on what kind of audio file you need, you have to choose the output format first. Pick the format you need from the big list of audio converters – for example iTunes’ AIFF, or MP3 – and click on the link.

Click for full size

2. Upload your Video

Now that you know what kind of audio file you want, it’s time to choose the video you want to extract the music or sound effects from. If it’s a short video that only contains the part you want to rip, you can directly upload it to the converter by using the “Choose Files” button, entering an URL, or choosing a file from your cloud storage.

If you only want a part of your video clip to be converted into an audio file, however, you have the option to select the correct time frame from which you want to extract the music. You find this option underneath the other settings you can apply to your desired audio file.

Once you have specified all your settings, you can hit the “Convert File” button.

3. Receiving your Audio File

On the next page, the progress of your conversion is shown. As soon as the conversion is completed, the file will automatically download to your computer.

Of course, you can also send the download link to yourself or someone else via email, or save your file onto a cloud storage.

Et voilà, now you have the sound track extracted from your YouTube, DailyMotion, Vimeo, or otherwise downloaded and recorded video clip!

YouTube Video Format Error

It can be very disheartening to go through all the work to get a video ready to post to YouTube and then have it be rejected because it’s the wrong video format.  But the good news is this, if you get a YouTube video format error, it is typically something very easy to fix, and we’re going to show you how.

YouTube video format error

Getting the format error from YouTube can be scary if it’s the first time you’ve ever seen it. After all, you just had a great idea about a video you should post to YouTube and you have big plans for it. Then you carefully edited the video to be just the right length. Then you created a YouTube account, figured out what to title your video and thought you were ready to upload your video and share it with the world.

However, then you clicked the “upload” button and your dreams came crashing down. Instead of uploading your video, YouTube gave you an error that said “invalid file format”.  This can be very discouraging because it appears as though the video that you carefully selected will never get seen by the world.

Why You Get the YouTube Video Format Error

The reason you get this type of error is because there are dozens of different types of video formats and you have to upload something that can be handled by the YouTube system. It’s likely that if your video was created in one of the more common formats, you won’t have any problems. However, if your video was created in one of the lesser used video formats, it is more likely to cause you a problem.

Video Formats Accepted

Since there are so many different types of video formats, it is nearly impossible for any type of video uploading service to be able to handle all of them.  If you try to upload a video that is not supported, you will get the YouTube video format error.

Since YouTube is a major player in the video world, they can handle more types of video formats than other services. The following file extensions are accepted by YouTube: .MOV, .MPEG4, MP4 .AVI, .WMV, .MPE, GPS, .FLV, 3GPP, and WebM.  However, trying to upload any other type of video file will cause your video to be rejected.

How to Solve the Problem

When you receive the YouTube video format error when trying to upload a video, it can easily be fixed. All you need to do is change the type of file format for your video. While this may sound complicated, you can easily do it, even if you don’t have a lot of technical experience.

The first step is to find a good online document converter and make sure it has the ability to convert videos. Your best option is to use an online tool because then you don’t have to download any strange software to your computer.

Once you find the best video converter, simply follow the instructions. This typically only includes browsing through your file manager to identify the video you want converted. This is just as easy as opening a Word or Excel file.

Then you just need to tell the conversion tool what type of file to convert the video too. As long as you select a file format that is accepted by YouTube, you should then be able to upload the converted file to YouTube.

Now that you know how to handle the YouTube video format error, you can have the peace of mind to know that when you capture video of the perfect YouTube moment, you will be able to get it uploaded without any problems.
